inthestate betweenJanuary and December last
year.

Antai, disclosedthisin an interview withthe
News Agency ofNigeria in Eket on Sunday.
Antia said that thestationswere sealedfor
sellingpetroleumproducts above the
government-approved pump price ofN97 per
litre, under-dispensing andoperatingwithout
license.
He said that thesealedstations wereamong
the215 visitedby thedepartment’s monitoring
team duringtheperiod, and that italsosealed
18 stations in Cross River.
Antai said that thedepartment would continue
to monitorthequality and quantity ofproducts
liftedfrom thedepots and receivedat the
stations, to ensure that they met specifications.
“The depot ownerswere sellingpetroleum
products above theapproved price and the
department intervened.
“We reminded them that government had
subsidized theproducts andforced themto
bring down theprices”, hesaid.
He, however, regretted that dealers in some
areas still soldtheproducts above theapproved
pump prices, but assured theconsumersthat
theprices would soonnormalise.
“They have started sellingat depot prices. I
expect that at theendof thisweek, theprices
at theretail outlets willnormalize”, hesaid.
The operationscontroller advised petroleum
marketers inthestate to shun unwholesome
practices in their dealingsto avoid thewrath of
thedepartment.
Antai restated theDPR’s commitmentto
monitoringpetrol stations to ensure compliance
with Federal Government’s directives on saleof
theproducts.
“It is a continuousthing; wewill keep going
roundand ensure that theprices oftheproducts
are stable. We willalso ensure that theproducts
are dispensedappropriately”, Antai said. (NAN
